The Gas City Rollers currently have a position open to coach our team!! Roller Derby is a full contact women’s sport that attracts a mixture of ages, attitudes and skill levels to the track! It’s the fastest growing sport in the world with hundreds of teams forming each year, evolving rulesets and strategy that changes rapidly! Great time to get involved and get your hands dirty!

If you think you are the right fit for the job, please email coaching credentials to info@gascityrollers.com. Tell us why you would be an asset to our team. Also, please inquire or ask any questions regarding the sport. The job will take commitment, including 2 practices per week in both Medicine Hat and Brooks locations, as well travel on weekends for away games or set up time for home games will be required.

Hello folks and happy 2012!!!

Gas City Rollers played the raucous team from Fort Mac, the Tar Sand Betties Jan 21 and were pleased to have comtv.ca film our event! Gas City came out on top 146:88! If you missed the game you can watch it online and see all the action. Definitely don’t miss our last home game of our 2011-2012 season, before we hit the road for games in Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge and Swift Current! Next game .. Feb. 25th against the Lakeland Ladykillers (Cold Lake). Love from the gas city girls to our fans:)

Comtv.ca came and recorded our last game verses Deathbridge Derby Dames (Lethbridge) December 3rd at the Cypress Center. Our next home games in 2012 are January 21st (Tar Sand Betties) and February 25th (Lakeland Ladykillers). You can see the exciting footage here!

Nightmatch Before Christmas

December 3rd, 2011, the Gas City Rollers hosted their nearest rivals, the Lethbridge Roller Derby Guild in the event — The Nightmatch Before Christmas. The teams had not met up since November 2010 and with a swap of each others key players … the match was sure to be neck and neck. The first 30 minutes saw many lead changes with both teams looking cohesive and strong, putting up strong walls and nickle and diming for points. Lethbridge went into the half a few points over, 52 to 42.

The second half saw Gas City incur some jammer penalties early on, allowing Deathbridge to pull ahead with a substantial lead. Both teams put together some tough lines and held off points throughout the middle of the second half, and Gas City fought back in the final minutes of the game to get back on the score board. However, the damage was already done with Lethbridge pulling ahead for a final score of 155-95. Lethbridge puts away their fall season with a win against the Medicine Hat girls.

The Gas City Rollers are mid-swing in their 2011-2012 season … and will take on the Tar Sand Betties of Fort Mac in January and Lakeland Ladykillers of Cold Lake in February 2012 before heading into Chinook City Roller Derby Flat Track Fever tournament this April. They will finish up their season in Edmonton May 2012 vs the Oil City Tanker Girls.
